Day 7 of 30 Poems/30 Days

‘The Forest’

The children play hide and seek
with the ancient trees.
Giggling down the path,
lower into the forest.
To where the sky was born.

‘Hide the ladybug
under your tongue
like this!’

‘Roar like a lion
with a smile
like that!’

The boys kiss and run,
after the girls in their dresses.
They know the words but not the music,
the rhythm of heart but not its slumber.
