Day 17 of 30 Poems/30 Days

‘The Last Memory’

There is this sound,
a pounding voice,
a plea to let go,
a threat to keep moving.

It races back and forth
between my ears,
sprinting faster and faster,
becoming one with my bones.

It says:
“You’ve found me again!
Your first lover,
your long-lost friend;
your heartbeat and your breath.”

It says:
“I am the time that you lost,
the photographs forgotten,
the dream without end,
the memory and the moment.”
